KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives scheduled for Thursday has been adjourned due to a lack of quorum.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced that all agendas for Thursday’s session have been removed from the business list due to the lack of quorum. “We require a quorum of 69 members to table a proposal, but only 65 members are present today,” Ghimire stated.
The lawmakers of Nepali Congress are in Godavari of Lalitpur to attend the party’s Mahasamiti meeting, while the central committee meeting of CPN-UML is also underway in Kathmandu.
As per Article 94 of the Constitution of Nepal, a minimum of 25% of the 275 members must be present to table any proposal.
The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 11 am on Friday.
