KATHMANDU: The Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives has reached an agreement to separate Bir Hospital from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS).
The committee held a discussion on the Bill to Amend Some Nepal Acts on Tuesday and reached an understanding to approve Section 1 of the National Academy of Medical Sciences Act, 2006, to allow NAMS to establish and operate its hospital or enter into a bilateral agreement with the government’s central hospital to use it as a teaching hospital.
According to committee Chairperson Bimala Subedi, the meeting approved Section 44 of the Act related to the separation of Bir Hospital and NAMS after seven years.
During the meeting, members of the committee like Mahesh Bartaula, Ranjukumari Jha, Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan and Ram Kumar Rai, emphasized the need to retain Bir Hospital under the government.
