HoR meeting rescheduled for Sunday

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) will now be held only on Sunday.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the next meeting of the House of Representatives will convene at 11 am on Sunday, May 20.

Earlier, the Secretariat had postponed the meeting called for 11 am on Friday to 2 pm. However, it issued a notice later, stating that the meeting cannot convene on Friday and has been rescheduled for Sunday.

The HoR meetings have been affected for the past few days as the Nepali Congress is obstructing parliamentary proceedings, demanding the formation of a parliamentary inquiry committee to study allegations that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane misused cooperative deposits. Lamichhane, however, has been insisting that he should be given time to respond to allegations against him in parliament.

Lawmakers of ruling parties and the Nepali Congress were briefly involved in a scuffle on Friday after Speaker Devraj Ghimire allocated time for Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane to speak amid obstruction by the Nepali Congress.
