KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives scheduled for Friday has been postponed. According to a notice issued by the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the session has been rescheduled for Sunday.

Federal Parliament’s Secretary-General Padma Prasad Pandey said in a notice that the meeting set for 1:15 PM on Friday has been postponed due to special circumstances..

The House of Representatives has been obstructed since Tuesday due to protests by opposition parties, including the main opposition CPN (Maoist Center). The opposition has been blocking parliamentary proceedings in protest against the sacking of NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising.

These parties have been demanding that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli answer the House why Ghising had to be dismissed. They have taken a firm stance, vowing not to allow Parliament to function until the Prime Minister provides an answer.
