KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to maintain its stance that the home minister must step down to facilitate an impartial investigation into the visit visa controversy.

A meeting of the RSP’s parliamentary party held on Monday decided to continue its demand for the formation of a high-level commission to investigate the matter.

“The meeting concluded that since serious questions have been raised against the home minister, the Prime Minister, as the head of the government, should address the issue in parliament, rather than the home minister himself,” Manish Jha, acting spokesperson of the party, told reporters.

He clarified that RSP was not targeting any individual but was committed to addressing the broader issue of irregularities in the visit visa process.

Earlier on Monday, the RSP Secretariat had directed its parliamentary party to raise the issue strongly in parliament.
