KATHMANDU: The 2025 Ashish Memorial Journalism Award has been conferred on Himal Press journalist Kiran Paudel.
Koshi Province’s Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Ram Bahadur Rana Magar, presented the award to Paudel.
The Ilam branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) annually awards the Ashish Award to emerging journalists from the Mechi region. The award was established in 2004 by the FNJ Ilam chapter in memory of journalist Ashish Rai who passed away in a tragic accident in 2002.
Active in journalism for nearly one and a half decades, Paudel has previously worked with media outlets such as Ilam Post, Ilam FM, Ilam Aawaz and Rastriya Samachar Samiti (National News Agency).
Meanwhile, the Active Women Journalist Award has been presented to Sunita Magar of Radio Nepalvani.
Both journalists received a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each and certificates of appreciation.
