High Court orders release of Rabi Lamichhane on bail

KATHMANDU: The Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane on bail.

A division bench of High Court Judges Basudev Acharya and Tej Narayan Paudel issued the order on Thursday by accepting the bank guarantee of Rs 27,484,000, equivalent to the damages claimed in the charge sheet, deposited by Lamichhane.

However, Lamichhane must inform the court before embarking on foreign trips.

“As the final outcome of this case will be determined by the court’s verdict, and if the defendant consents to fulfill and pay any additional liabilities or recovery amounts created by the verdict, complete the necessary documentation and release the defendant from custody in relation to this ongoing case,” the court order states.

Lamichhane is currently in Nakkhu Prison, Lalitpur, for pretrial detention.
