KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast heavy rainfall in various parts of the country over the next three days.
Issuing a press statement, the division has also advised caution, warning that monsoon-related incidents such as floods and landslides may increase, especially during nighttime when rainfall is expected to be particularly heavy.
According to the division, the monsoon system is active across the country, with the monsoon trough line near its average. This setup increases the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall in various locations.
“There’s a possibility of rain during the night, but continuous rainfall is unlikely,” he said. “Tonight, the sky will be generally cloudy across the country, with a chance of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of all provinces.”
Adhikari added that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
