KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast rain in western parts of the country for three days starting Thursday.
Publishing a special bulletin on Wednesday, the division said that some parts of western Nepal are likely to receive heavy rainfall.
According to the division, the monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country with the monsoon trough situated south of its average position. “Despite this, a low-pressure system currently near Madhya Pradesh, India, is expected to develop further and move northwest toward Nepal. “Due to the influence of this system, the monsoon is likely to become active in western Nepal from Thursday evening to Saturday morning, bringing rainfall,” Shanti Kandel, a meteorologist with the division, said.
The bulletin states that Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will have generally cloudy conditions, while partly cloudy conditions have been forecast in the remaining provinces.
