KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Tuesday concluded hearings on a writ petition challenging the Election Commission’s decision to recognise the new Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress (NC) elected by the party’s Second Special General Convention under the leadership of Gagan Kumar Thapa.
The hearing was conducted before a single bench of Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel.
Sher Bahadur Deuba, the president of the Central Working Committee before the special convention, had filed the writ petition.
Senior advocates, including former Attorney General Khamma Bahadur Khati, along with Ramesh Badal and Kamana Khati, pleaded on behalf of the petitioner.
Supreme Court sources say the top court is expected to deliver its order later today.
