KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has approved the nomination of Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal as Ambassador to Belgium.
A committee meeting held on Wednesday morning endorsed her nomination.
Lamsal was nominated for the role by a cabinet meeting held in September. She will assume her new assignment upon retirement.
She is the first woman in Nepal’s civil service history to be appointed as Foreign Secretary. Lamsal Lamsal joins the list of foreign secretaries appointed to ambassadorial positions immediately after retirement. Her predecessor, Bharat Raj Poudyal, is currently serving as Nepal’s ambassador to Canada.
