KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has commented that former King Gyanendra Shah is not fit to become a constitutional monarch.
Speaking at a program organized by the NC’s Congress Bagmati Province Training Department on Sunday, Deuba suggested that Shah should become the president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) led by Rajendra Lingden.
“If Gyanendra Shah wants to engage in politics, he should form his own party, and those who join him will also face difficulties. Even the leaders and workers of RPP will regret it,” he added.
Stating that restoration of the monarchy is impossible, he directed party leaders and workers to unite to safeguard the republic.
Commenting on RPP and Shah’s current political activities, he added, “RPP will face problems in the future if it supports the former monarch.”
