KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has accused the government and various power centers of attempting to suppress political party activities by mobilizing fake Gen Z groups.
Speaking at the declaration program of the National Volunteer Force (NVF), the party’s volunteer squad, in Kathmandu on Friday, Oli alleged that the government and other forces are operating in the background to deploy these groups to prohibit political activities. No one is allowed to cause havoc in the name of ‘Gen Z’ while acting under the instructions of others.
Oli also said that the government, which is constantly talking about elections, has failed to create an environment conducive even for peaceful assemblies. He also expressed strong objection to the Prime Minister’s recent remark that a greater disaster will befall the country if the government fails. “The current government was formed through unconstitutional means. I am committed to bringing democracy back to the correct path,” he added.
Commenting on growing factionism in the party, Oli said there is no place for “fake leftists” within the UML.
He maintained that the National Volunteer Force was formed not against any specific individual, but against violence and anarchy. “The force would provide security not only to the UML but also to those who disagree with the party,” he added.
