KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has expressed willingness to collaborate with the private sector for the development of the tourism industry.
Speaking at the 46th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) in Kathmandu on Monday, Minister Pandey said the private sector plays an indispensable role in the development and promotion of the culture, tourism and civil aviation sectors. “The ministry is ready to collaborate with the private sector to develop the tourism industry. The role of the private sector is crucial for the growth of tourism,” he added.
Minister Pandey further stated that efforts were underway to revise Nepal’s tourism development policy, cultural policy and aviation policy. “Likewise, a bill aimed at separating the regulatory and service roles of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has already been forwarded to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs,” Pandey said.
The AGM will elect a new executive of TAAN for a two-year term.
