
KATHMANDU: The government has stated that only 4.2% of the 1,010 activities targeted to be completed by 28 government agencies in the fiscal year 2024/25 have been accomplished in the first six months of the current fiscal year.
This marks the lowest progress in the past three fiscal years. In comparison, the progress stood at 8.5% and 11.2% at the halfway points of fiscal years 2023/24 and 2022/23, respectively.
According to the progress report of government agencies for the first half of the current fiscal year, published by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday, only 27 out of 157 activities targeted for completion by mid-January have been completed, accounting for 17.2%. Meanwhile, 79.6% of the activities are ongoing, and 3.2% have not yet started.
Sector-wise, the economic sector performed relatively better during the review period, with 12 out of 41 activities completed. Similarly, five out of 38 activities were completed in the infrastructure sector, eight out of 39 in governance reform, and two out of 39 in the social sector.
The study included 22 ministries, as well as the National Planning Commission, the Office of the Investment Board Nepal, the National Vigilance Center, the Public Procurement Monitoring Office, the National Statistics Office, and the Nepal Trust Office.
