KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that the government was making serious diplomatic efforts for the safe release of Bipin Joshi of Kailali who is believed to be in the the captivity of Hamas rebels.
Addressing the 4th Convocation Ceremony of the Far-Western University in Mahendranagar of Kanchanpur on Sunday, Dahal expressed sadness over the loss of lives of young Nepali students in Israel. “I am deeply saddened by the loss of Nepali students in an attack by Palestinian rebels in Israel,” Dahal said.
Joshi has been in the captivity of the rebels for the past five months. Ten Nepalis were killed when Hamas attacked Israel in October last year.
Dahal claimed that the government has been working tirelessly to bring back the injured and other affected students to the country as soon as possible. “One of our students is still in the captivity of the rebels,” Dahal said. “Necessary diplomatic efforts are underway to bring him back safely to the country.”
