A cabinet meeting held on Thursday took the decision, according to government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Infomation Technology. cabinet minister. “The ban has been lifted on condition that TikTok will follow the Directives for Managing the Use of Social Networks,” Gurung told journalists after the cabinet meeting. “It will also have to contribute to promoting tourism in Nepal, invest in digital security literacy to help increase the literacy rate of Nepali citizens, assist in improving the quality of public education, and adopt sensitivity in the language used on social media.”

The government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal had imposed a ban on TikTok through a cabinet decision on November 13, 2023, citing negative effects on social harmony and the social environment.
