Govt decides to enhance surveillance at TIA, border points

KATHMANDU: The Central Security Committee, under the Minister of Home Affairs, has decided to enhance security surveillance at Tribhuvan International Airport and land border checkpoints.

In a meeting held on Wednesday afternoon following the escalation of conflict between India and Pakistan, the committee decided to increase security monitoring at the airport and border checkpoints.

The meeting also analyzed the potential impact of the escalating regional tension on Nepal. Likewise, the meeting decided to assess the situation of Nepalis and India and Pakistan through diplomatic channels.

Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak chaired the meeting which was attended by Nepal Army Lieutenant General Nirmal Kumar Thapa, Nepal Police Inspector General Deepak Thapa, Armed Police Force Inspector General Raju Aryal, National Investigation Department Director General Hut Raj Thapa and home ministry officials.

The Armed Police Force has already increased its vigilance along Nepal-India border points, taking into consideration possible infiltration into Nepal.
