Govt decides to call winter session of parliament on Jan 31

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to recommend the President to convene the winter session of parliament on January 31.

A Cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to recommend President Ram Chandra Paudel to convene the winter session of the House of Representatives and National Assembly on January 31, according to Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari.

A few days ago, the government introduced five ordinances. The government faced criticism for issuing ordinances while keeping Parliament inactive. Opposition parties had been putting pressure on the government to call the winter session of parliament as soon as possible.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli discussed the winger session with Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire.

President Ram Chandra Paudel ended the summer session of parliament on August 16 last year.
