KATHMANDU: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the government could collapse if the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24 is approved without any change.

Talking to media persons after the meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, Nepal said, “This coalition should run its full term of five years and we are making needful efforts for that. But this government might collapse if the budget is approved without any change.”

Stating that everyone is dissatisfied with the budget, Nepal said the nation will meet with an accident if the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister do not show flexibility.

Nepal has been saying that the budget is centered on three districts – Gorkha, Dadeldhura, and Nuwakot. While Gorkha is the electoral constituency of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat hails from Nuwakot and Dadeldhura is the home of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Interestingly, two lawmakers of his party – Dr Beduram Bhusal and Prakash Jwala – are in the government.
