KATHMANDU: Gold reached an all-time high of Rs 176,000 per tola (11.664 grams) this week.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (Fenegosida), gold started the week at Rs 174,100 on Sunday, and peaked at Rs 176,000 on Wednesday before closing the week at Rs 175,000 on Friday.

The week began with the yellow metal priced at Rs 174,100 per tola on Sunday, a decrease of Rs 400 from the previous Friday’s price of Rs 174,500 per tola. The price held steady on Monday at Rs 174,100. On Tuesday, however, a surge of Rs 1,100, driven by global market trends, brought the price to Rs 175,200 per tola. The upward momentum continued on Wednesday, with an additional increase of Rs 800, pushing the price to a record Rs 176,000 per tola. The price remained unchanged on Thursday, but saw a decline of Rs 1,000 on Friday, closing the week at Rs 175,000 per tola.

Overall, the week recorded a net increase of Rs 900 per tola this week, a rise of approximately 0.52%. International factors, including a weaker US dollar due to recent US Federal Reserve policies, have supported higher gold prices globally, which in turn has impacted the domestic market.
