Global Nepali Film Award to be held in Australia

KATHMANDU: DBoys Entertainment is organizing the Global Nepali Film Awards in Australia in May.

Ganesh Malla, chief of DBoys Entertainment, said in a statement on Tuesday that the event will be held in Sydney from May 28 to June 1.

According to Malla, the awards will be given away in 18 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Story, Best Music, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Singer Male/Female, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Background Score.

Likewise, a film journalist, popular actor/actress and a special film personality will be awarded with cash prizes.

Films released in the calendar year 2080 BS (mid-April 2023 to mid-April 2024) will be eligible for the awards.

Malla said that the awards aim to promote Nepali films and tourism in Australia. Over three dozen artists and filmmakers will participate in the award ceremony, according to the organizers.

Films released in the Nepali calendar year 2080 (2023-2024) will be eligible for the awards. A jury comprising of experienced people in the Nepali film industry will shortlist the films and individuals in different categories for the awards.
