KATHMANDU: Ujyaalo Nepal Party, which is believed to be the political vehicle of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kulman Ghising, has begun its organisational expansion by forming its Bagmati Province Committee.
It is the first provincial committee of the newly-formed party.
A province-level gathering held in Kathmandu on Monday formed a 75-member Bagmati Province Convention Organizing Committee with Prabin Tamang as the coordinator.
Ghising, who is leading three ministries in the interim government, is expected to take leadership of the party after resigning from the government ahead of the March 5 elections.
Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and Gen Z activist Sudan Gurung, among others, were also expected to join the party initially. However, it did not materialize due to differences among the leaders.
