KATHMANDU: Kulman Ghising has stepped down from Sushila Karki’s interim cabinet.
Ghising, who held three ministerial portfolios, submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Wednesday evening.
In a recent cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Karki had instructed ministers affiliated with political parties to step down.
Ghising, who formed the Ujyalo Nepal Party, which recently merged with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), had been denying his political affiliations so far. He was also present at the unification program.
RSP has decided to appoint him as one of its vice chairpersons.
A two-time managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Ghising held the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Urban Development in the interim government.
