KATHMANDU: Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has instructed Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Kul Man Ghising, to provide a written explanation within 72 hours explaining why he should not be removed from his position.
In line with the decision made by the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday evening, the ministry asked Ghising to furnish a written explanation on Thursday afternoon.
The letter, signed by Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, has sought clarification from Ghising on why his appointment should not be revoked, citing his failure to submit a performance report and his violation of the terms of the performance agreement as the basis for the inquiry.
The ministry has also questioned Ghising why he should not be removed from his position for not adhering to the ministry’s directives regarding the dedicated and trunk Line tariff dispute and for increasing electricity purchase and sales rates with India without consulting the government.
