KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has refused to issue an interim order for the reinstatement of Kulman Ghising as the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
A division bench of Justices Dr Kumar Chudal and Nityananda Pandey took the decision on Thursday after three days of hearings. The decision means incumbent Executive Director Hitendra Dev Shakya can discharge his duties until the final verdict is passed in the case.
Although the bench refused to issue an interim order as demanded by Ghising, who was sacked as NEA’s executive director on March 24, it has prioritized the case for final resolution.
Ghising moved the Supreme Court on March 26, challenging the government’s decision to sack him. He has named the Government of Nepal, the Energy Ministry, the Energy Minister, and the NEA Board of Directors as defendants.
