KATHMANDU: The judicial inquiry commission, led by former Judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, which is investigating the incidents of September 8 and 9, has requested a one-month extension of its tenure from the government.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Wednesday, officials from the commission requested the Prime Minister for a month-long tenure extension.
The commission, which was formed on September 21, sought additional time, stating that it was still in the process of recording statements.
In response, Prime Minister Karki assured that the tenure would be extended.
Commission Chair Karki told reporters after the meeting that preparations were underway to summon former prime ministers, former home ministers, and leaders of political parties to record their statements next week.
The commission has already recorded statements from senior officials of security agencies and administrative bodies.
The commission’s three-month tenure is expiring next week.
