KATHMANDU: An organization named Gen Z Movement Nepal has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, accusing her of taking irresponsible decisions and being completely mired in corruption, favoritism, and misgovernance.
Issuing a statement on Monday, the organization alleged that Karki was doing nothing even as her personals secretary secured jobs for family members; Energy Minister Kulman Ghising caused a loss of Rs 430 million; Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal granted an illegal tax exemption to Dolma Impact Fund; Attorney General Sabita Baral Bhandari was involved in surrogacy scam; and Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal engaged in organized wrongdoing by adding positions in the Armed Police Force to promote his uncle to the rank of DIG.
The organization has claimed that the government had lost both moral standing and public trust by committing a grave insult to the Nepali people, including the ideals of rebellion and the martyrs and injured who sacrificed their lives for good governance.
“Therefore, we call on Sushila Karki to immediately resign and to refrain from betraying the spirit of the Gen Z rebellion and the aspirations of the people,” the statement said.
Karki was picked by several organizations to lead the interim government after the September 8-9 Gen Z protests.
