Gaur massacre victims may approach Hague for justice, says Prabhu Sah

KATHMANDU: Aam Janata Party (AJP) Chairman Prabhu Sah has warned that the victims of the Gaur massacre will pursue legal action against the perpetrators at the International Criminal Court in The Hague if they are denied justice by the state.

Speaking at the central committee meeting of the party on Monday, Sah said that the victims have been waiting for justice for the past 17 years. “The victims won’t remain silent for a long time if the government continues to exhibit inaction to prolong its tenure. If justice is not served here, the victims reserve the right to approach the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” he added.

Sah also accused the government of dragging its feet in investigating the case even after entering into agreements with the victims to initiate an investigation.

The violent clash in Gaur on March 21, 2007, resulted in the deaths of 27 individuals, including 26 associated with the then CPN (Maoist). The clash erupted when the Madheshi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF) and CPN (Maoist) organized simultaneous rallies at the same location.
