POKHARA: The Gandaki Province Government has made it mandatory for new dealers of commercial electric vehicles to first set up three fast charging stations.

Issuing a notice, the provincial government stated that road permits would be issued to public electric vehicles only after their dealers installed fast charging stations in at least three districts of the province.

This means dealers of new commercial electric vehicles must set up charging stations at three locations in the province if they are to expand their business in Gandaki.

Electric vans of 13-15 seat capacity are becoming increasingly popular for inter-city as well as local transport. However, most of these vans depend on fast-charging stations set up by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). Only a few dealers have set up charging stations. The new decision is expected to exchange charging infrastructure in the province.
