POKHARA: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that Gandaki Economic Triangle Project, announced through the budget for fiscal year 2024/25, will be historic and significant for the country.
Speaking at a party program in Pokhara on Wednesday, Dahal said the triangle project, which connects three cities – Pokhara, Bharatpur and Butwal, has been conceived to usher in economic development in the three cities as well as the entire country.
“The budget for the upcoming fiscal year has been formulated in such a way that it gives a significant boost to Gandaki Province’s development,” Dahal said, claiming that the upcoming budget prioritizes agricultural transformation, energy development, information technology advancement, tourism promotion, and entrepreneurship and industrial development.
Dahal also said modern and innovative agricultural projects, like commercial farming of musk deer and Manang and Mustang, will be implemented in the Himalayan and hilly districts of the province.
Stating that the construction of the 1,200 MW Budhigandaki Project would bring long-term benefits to the country’s energy sector, Dahal also said 42 MW Modi ‘A’ Hydropower Project will also be started soon.
To facilitate pilgrims visiting the major religious site of Muktinath, Dahal said the government has earmarked funds to operate a dedicated transportation service called “Muktinath Darshan Yatayat Sewa”.
Ready for Maoist Unification
Dahal also said he is in favor of uniting all forces that fragmented from the Maoist movement. “We are ready for party unification,” Dahal said, adding that he remains committed to the people’s revolution and urged all Maoist factions to unite.
“We are ready to welcome all our friends into the party. I am on the path of people’s revolution,” Dahal said. “Those, who left the party, has now realized that they were on the wrong path. We are on the right path.”
