KATHMANDU: A massive fire broke out at a timber warehouse in Gairigaun, Kathmandu, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the fire that erupted from the warehouse owned by Ishwar Karki also caused damage to the nearby Loyola School. Fire engines and water tankers from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, as well as the Tribhuvan International Airport and security agencies, were deployed to bring the fire under control.
The Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) municipal police personnel were mobilized to contain the fire.
SSP Ramesh Thapa, chief of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said the fire originated at the timber warehouse and also caused damage to a nearby school.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be ascertained.
