KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has sent Sanjaya Bhandari (23), who has been charged with the murder of four individuals, to judicial custody.
The District Government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu formally charged Bhandari, who is originally from Barhabise Municipality-9 in Sindhupalchowk, for the murder on Thursday.
Four people were found murdered at a sawmill in Gairidhhara, Kathmandu on September 15. The victims were identified as Purna Bahadur Bhujel, his wife Ambika, and his mother Subhadra, all hailing from Kalinchok-8 in Dolakha, as well as Nabin Rai (19) from Bhirgaun, Dhankuta.
Bhandari, who is hearing and speech impaired, was apprehended by the police on September 17.
According to police, Bhandari communicated, with the assistance of a sign language expert, that he initially targeted Bishal Rai due to a personal dispute, and subsequently, he took the lives of the other three individuals because they had witnessed the crime.
