KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has proposed to hold the party’s 15th General Convention from December 31 to January 3.

Thapa presented the proposal during the ongoing Central Working Committee meeting at the party’s central office in Sanepa on Tuesday.

Earlier, a gathering of the Central Working Committee of the party’s establishment faction on Monday had proposed to hold the convention on May 8-11 next year.

Leaders of the anti-establishment faction have been demanding that the party hold a regular general convention or hold a special general convention. They have submitted a proposal backed by 54% of General Convention Representatives of the party to Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka to hold a special general convention.
