KATHMANDU: French club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) clinched its first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a commanding 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in Munich early Sunday morning.
The match, the first final under the new format, marked the second time a French club has won the prestigious trophy following Marseille’s triumph in 1993.
Former Inter player Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Teenager Desire Doue, who assisted Hakimi’s opener, scored twice in the match—first with a deflected effort in the 20th minute and then a stunning individual goal in the 63rd. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added a fourth in the 73rd minute, before substitute Senny Mayulu sealed the rout with a powerful strike in the 86th.
The Champions League trophy completed a treble for PSG, which earlier won the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France titles in the 2024/25 season.
Likewise, Louis Enrique became the second manager to win a treble with a European club twice, along with Pep Guardiola. Enrique earlier completed a treble with Spanish side Barcelona in 2024/25.
