KATHMANDU: While the Nepali film industry is grappling with dwindling audience numbers, four Nepali films are set to release on the same day, December 22.
The producers of Sarang, which unveiled its poster on Friday, announced that the film will release on December 22. Three other films, Agnidahan, Devvani, and Tel: Visa, have already announced their release date for December 22.
Sarang‘s poster features Utpal Jha and Richa Sharma, as well as child artists Samrat Thapa and Aditya Karki. The film is based on child psychology, children’s rights, and the story of rich and poor families, according to the producers.
Written and directed by Prashant Tamang, Sarang stars Samir Mani Dixit, Suraj Tamu, Mani K. Rai, Anisha Nyaupane, Niraj Black, Deepika Thapa, Suman Sagar Jung KC, Bishwa Syangbo, and Prabhat Jung.
Agnidahan, directed by Ghanshyam Lamichhane, stars Prakash Ghimire, Maotse Gurung, Pramila Tulachan, and Tulasi Chhetri, among others. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name, written by journalist Lokmani Paudel.
Likewise, Tel: Visa follows the story of a Nepali family as they navigate cultural differences in the US and the complications that social media can cause. Directed by Shankar Ghimire, the film stars Bipin Karki, Barsha Raut, Gauri Malla, Richa Ghimire, and Buddhi Tamang, among others.
Devvani, which will be released in both Nepali and Hindi, is directed by Babusaheb Balami. It stars Sunil Thapa, Dev Singh, Kundan Bharadwaj, and Anuja Lepcha, among others.
