KATHMANDU: A man allegedly committed suicide after killing his wife and two daughters, police say.

Police discovered the bodies of the woman and two daughters in their rented room at Sitapila in Nagarunj-6 of Kathmandu on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Ishwari Shrestha (38) and her daughters, eight-year-old Anisha and two-and-a-half-year-old Shiwani, according to DSP Purnima Chand of Metropolitan Police Circle Swoyambhu.

Likewise, Ishwari’s husband, Raju Ghimire from Soluhumbu, was found in a forest near Swoyambhunath Stupa. Police are investigating his death as a suspected suicide after the alleged murder of his wife and two daughters.

“Our investigation has showed the man called his father-in-law and informed the latter that he killed his daughter and two granddaughters,” Chand told Himal Press over the phone. “The man sent his stepson to fetch milk and biscuits from a nearby shot at around 7:45 am and committed the crime.”
