Four members appointed to NPC

KATHMANDU: The government has made appointments to vacant positions of members in the National Planning Commission (NPC).

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Thursday morning appointed Prof Sangita Singh (Kathmandu), Dr Kusendra Bahadur Mahat (Jumla), Prof Shiva Raj Adhikari (Palpa) and Dr Aranico Pandey (Lalitpur) as the members of the apex policy-making body of the government, according to Government Spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

The new members will replace Prabhu Budhathoki, Dr RP Bichcha, Anita Shah Dhungana and Dr Jayakanta Raut who tendered resignation a few days ago with the formation of a new ruling alliance. While Budhatholi, Dr Bichcha and Dhungana were appointed on the quota of Nepali Congress, Dr Raut was recommended on the quota of Janamat Party.

Similarly, the meeting also decided to waive the climbing permit fee for seven South Korean and three Nepali climbers who are preparing to summit Mt Jugal in Sindhupalchowk to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Likewise, the government has decided to promote Joint Secretary Chudamani Poudel to the vacant position of Secretary of the Nepal Administrative Service.
