KATHMANDU: Four individuals were injured as a clash erupted among juveniles at the Juvenile Reform Home in Banke district on Sunday.

The dispute between juveniles residing in two blocks of the reform home in Naubasta, Baijanath-2, escalated, leading to the clash, as per police reports.

“Four individuals were injured in the clash. While three have returned from the hospital after receiving treatment, one is still undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College and Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur,” stated Banke Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Pokharel. “Some juveniles have fled after breaking the gate of the reform home.”

The reform home was housing 116 juveniles.

“It seems that all of them were involved in the clash. About 50 juveniles are still protesting, carrying knives, window panes, steel rods, etc. We are trying to convince them to get inside the reform home,” Pokharel said. “It has become difficult to take control of the situation as we cannot deploy security personnel in uniform in the reform home.”

According to CDO Pokharel, plainclothes police personnel have formed a cordon around the protesting juveniles. “It has come to our knowledge that the dispute began on Saturday night. We still don’t know what caused the dispute.”
