Forming ‘Naya Shakti’ party was a mistake: Baburam

KATHMANDU: Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that it forming ‘Naya Shakti Nepal’ party was a wrong decision.

“We formed the party in the presence of thousands of people at the Dasharath Stadium. Different types of people joined this campaign seeing its growing popularity. They started showing vested interests and the campaign started to deviate from its path,” Bhattarai said in its political report presented in the central committee meeting of the party that began in Kathmandu on Thursday. “Looking back, I think it was a mistake the form the party in haste.”

Bhattarai also said it was a mistake to form electoral alliances with old parties while promoting his party as an ‘alternative force’. “We committed another mistake by not contesting in the election of all three tiers of government with our own election symbol,” Bhattarai said.

He added that the party made a mistake by unifying with other parties.
