KATHMANDU: Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun attended the Standing Committee meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) at the party’s headquarters in Parisdanda, Kathmandu.
Pun’s appearance comes amid growing speculation about his return to active politics. While he had participated in party meetings before, this is the first time his presence has been publicly highlighted through an official photo shared by Maoist Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s Secretariat with the media.
Sources suggest Dahal is keen on appointing Pun as the party’s Vice President.
Pun stepped away from active politics after being elected Vice President of Nepal in 2015, a role he held for eight years.
Meanwhile, Maoist Center Vice Chairperson Krishna Prasad Mahara attended the party meeting after a hiatus of about a year. Mahara had not been seen in party meetings and activities since the arrest of his son Rahul in a gold smuggling case.
