KATHMANDU: Former Madhesh Province Chief Rajesh Jha, aka Rajesh Ahiraj, has been arrested in Kathmandu.
According to District Police Range Kathmandu Spokesperson Apil Raj Bohora, Ahiraj was taken into custody on Sunday. The Kathmandu District Court has remanded Ahiraj in police custody for five days for investigation.
Ahiraj has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl. Based on the complaint, Kathmandu police had secured an arrest warrant for Ahiraj from the district court in May. Ahiraj had gone out of contact after the complaint was filed.
Ahiraj was appointed as the Province Chief of Madhesh by the then KP Sharma Oli-led government in February 2021.
