KATHMANDU: A delegation of former Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers, who filed a petition seeking the reinstatement of the House of Representatives, is scheduled to visit the Supreme Court on Thursday.
According to Shyam Kumar Ghimire, the chief whip of NC in the dissolved lower house, the delegation will reach the Supreme Court at 10:30 am on Thursday.
It is believed that the former NC lawmakers will urge the Supreme Court to deliver its verdict in the petition before the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.
More than 60 NC lawmakers from the dissolved House have filed a petition demanding reinstatement of the lower house. In the petition, they have sought the apex court’s order to stop all election-related activities.
The Supreme Court has issued a show-cause notice in the name of the defendants.
CPN-UML lawmakers of the dissolved House have also filed a similar petition at the apex court.
President Ram Chandra Paudel dissolved the House of Representatives on September 12 on the recommendation of Interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
