KATHMANDU: Former member of House of Representatives, Pramod Sah, from the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has joined the CPN (Maoist Center).
Maoist Center Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal welcomed Sah to the party during the Terai-Madhesh Awakening Campaign in Malangwa of Sarlahi on Friday.
Sah was elected to the House of Representatives from Sarlahi-1 constituency in the 2017 general election as the candidate of the then Rastriya Janata Party (RJP). While in the RJP, he was considered close to Rajendra Mahato. The RJP, led by Mahantha Thakur, and the Samajbadi Party, led by Upendra Yadav, later merged to form the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal.
Subsequently, although leaders including Thakur, who had an RJP background, formed the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP), Sah remained with the JSP Nepal. He also served as the Chief Whip of the party in the lower house since 2021.
Recently, he had become dissatisfied with JSP Nepal Chairperson Yadav over the selection of the Central Committee and the allocation of responsibilities. He had announced his departure from the party some time ago.
After joining the Maoist Center, Sah said that he decided to join the party because he believes the Maoists are capable of completing the remaining tasks of the Madhesh movement.
