Former envoy Adhikari awarded in Islamabad Adhikari making his farewell call to Pakistan PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in the first week of November.

KATHMANDU: Former Nepali ambassador to Pakistan, Tapas Adhikari, has been honored with the prestigious Global Ambassador Award 2024 in Pakistan in recognition of his outstanding efforts in strengthening diplomatic, trade, and cultural ties between Nepal and Pakistan.

The Diplomatic Insight, a global public diplomacy institution in Pakistan, awarded the Ambassador with the 6th Global Ambassador Award during the 6th Global Ambassador Awards Ceremony 2024 in Islamabad last week, recognizing his groundbreaking contributions to bringing the two nations closer together at bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums within a short period of time. Ambassadors, diplomatic corps, Parliamentarians, government officials, business leaders, academics, media and civil society members attended the ceremony. Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, was the chief guest of the ceremony.

Adhikari returned to Kathmandu earlier this month after completing his four-year term which began on November 7, 2020. Charge D’ Affairs at the Embassy of Nepal in Islamabad, Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri, received the award on his behalf.

With more than two and half decades in foreign service, Adhikari has key diplomatic positions in New York, Kolkata and Tokyo, among others.
