Former district judge Bhusal sentenced to seven years in prison in marital rape case

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has sentenced former district judge Bhuwan Giri to seven years in prison in a marital rape case.

Giri has also been told to pay a compensation of Rs 3 million to his wife.

A single bench of District Judge Durga Bhusal handed the punishment.

The bench of District Judge Bhusal had convicted Giri in a marital rape case on May 26. The bench announced the sentence and compensation on Tuesday.

Giri was suspended and taken into custody after a complaint was filed against him while he was serving at the Kapilvastu District Court.
