KATHMANDU: The Special Court has convicted former Deputy Inspector General Mahesh Bikram Shah and three others in a corruption case.
A division bench of Special Court Chairman Tek Narayan Kunwar, and Judges Tej Narayan Singh Rai and Ritesh Thapa found DIG Thapa, former ASI Dipendra Singh Paneru, Keshav Singh Airee, and Sanjiv Bishunkhe guilty of pocketing two months’ salary and allowances of 103 police personnel by forging documents eight years ago.
Shah was the commanding officer of the Bagmati Province Police Training Center in Dudhauli, Sindhuli, at that time. Similarly, Bishunkhe was the Accountant with the District Treasury Control Office, Sindhuli.
A complaint against the four was lodged with the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in February 2019. After studying the complaint, CIAA filed a corruption case against the four at the Special Court seeking to recover Rs 3.33 million from them.
The Special Court, however, is yet to hand punishment to the convicted four.
