LUMBINI: The Rupandehi District Court has sent former DIG of Nepal Police, Chhabilal Joshi, to judicial custody for further investigation in a case involving embezzlement of funds from Butwal-based Supreme Cooperatives.
Following a detention hearing on Monday, District Judge Basishtha Kumar Ghimire issued the order to keep Joshi in custody until the final verdict is issued.
According to Yagyamurti Gyawali, the registrar at the district court, Joshi will be kept in custody while the hearing proceeds.
Joshi was earlier released on a bail bond of Rs 8.8 million by the Kaski District Court and Rs 5 million by the Kathmandu District Court.
Earlier, the district court released former Deputy Prime Minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane on a bail bond of Rs 10 million.
