Former DIG Chhabilal Joshi arrested

KATHMANDU: Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Nepal Police, Chhabilal Joshi, has been arrested. He was apprehended from Kathmandu for investigation of cooperative deposit misappropriation.

Joshi has been accused of misappropriating people’s savings parked in Surya Darshan Savings and Cooperatives among other cooperative institutions.

The Parliamentary Investigation Special Committee on Misuse of Cooperative Saving had instructed the government to arrest the former cop who is also a director of Gorkha Media Network.

The chairperson and director of Gorkha Media Network, GB Rai, is currently at large. The committee has also recommended action against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane a former director and managing director of Gorkha Media Network.

Lamichhane faces serious accusations of misappropriating funds brought from the cooperative although he was not involved in bringing money from the cooperative.
