KATHMANDU: Paras Khadka, the former captain of the Nepali national cricket team, has been elected as the Secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) just two years after drawing curtains on his playing career.

In the election for the new executive committee held in Kathmandu on Saturday, Khadka defeated Prashanta Bikram Malla. Malla had been serving as the officiating secretary of CAN.

Earlier Khadka was elected as the President of the Bagmati Provincial Committee of CAN.

Khadka retired from cricket on August 3, 2021. During his international career, he played 10 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 33 T20 Internationals for Nepal, amassing a total of 1124 runs, including seven scores of fifty or more. He also contributed with the ball, taking 17 international wickets. Additionally, he represented Nepal in three U-19 World Cups in 2004, 2006, and 2008.

All other office-bearers of the new executive committee were elected unopposed. Chatur Bahadur Chand secured a second term as the President of CAN, while Roshan Singh and Padam Khada were elected as Vice President and Treasurer, respectively.
